Manoj Kumar Smriti Sesh: Fought for His Ailing Mother, Battled Depression Over Father's Loss

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who gave patriotic films like Upkaar, Purba Aur Paschim, Kranti, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Shaheed to Hindi cinema, used to present the world with the message of nationalism through his films. One could hear slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai in his films. Today, the veteran actor is no more among us. Now his memories are left which will keep reminding people for years about the person who lived the values. He loved his parents as much as he loved Maa Bharati.

In an old interview, he had mentioned that incident. He said- During the partition of India, communal riots had broken out. Manoj Kumar's mother was admitted in Tis Hazari Hospital with her sick younger son Kuku. Due to the riots, she was not getting treatment from the doctors in the hospital. She was facing a lot of problems due to not getting treatment.

Manoj Kumar was watching all this before his eyes. Seeing his mother's condition, Manoj could not control himself and beat the doctors and nurses with sticks. After this incident, a ruckus broke out in the hospital. During this time Manoj Kumar's father somehow calmed the situation. His father made him swear that he would never create any riots again. According to Manoj, he respected that all his life.

There is another incident related to Manoj Kumar's life when he became addicted to alcohol. Due to excessive alcohol consumption, his weight started increasing. Manoj had reached depression. In the year 1983, Manoj Kumar's father died in a tragic incident. This news broke the actor from inside. It is said that Manoj's father had gone to worship at the Vrajeshwari temple. While returning, he asked the driver to stop the car near Bhayander Bay. After this, he reached the old bridge to throw flowers in the river. During this, he lost his balance and fell into the river. Search was done for several days. Later his body was recovered.

These two incidents are examples of immense love for parents. These show that Bharat Kumar not only believed in playing the characters in films but also lived his life in the same style. Actor Manoj Kumar was an example of love for his culture and dedication towards values.
