Manipur Police Post Attacked by Gunmen, Weapons Stolen in Daring Raid

Imphal (The Uttam Hindu): Unknown gunmen attacked an outpost of India Reserve Battalion (IRB) in Thoubal district of Manipur and looted weapons. Officials said that the incident took place in Kakamai area of ​​the district on Saturday night, where gunmen who came in vehicles looted weapons from the IRB outpost, causing a sensation in the area.

According to police officials, the gunmen arrived in several vehicles at Kakamai in Thoubal district and looted at least six SLRs (self-loading rifles) and three AK rifles from the IRB and Manipur Rifles personnel. In addition, about 270 rounds of ammunition and 12 magazines were also looted. After carrying out the incident, all the gunmen fled from the spot.

There was chaos in the area after the incident. The police have started investigating the matter and additional security forces have been sent to the area to search for the armed robbers. Security personnel are conducting search operations at various places and thorough checking of vehicles is being done, and people are also being questioned.

Meanwhile, in another development, Manipur Police has arrested three militants from Imphal West district. A police officer said on Sunday that on Saturday, two militants of the banned organization United National Liberation Front (UNLF-Pambei) were arrested from Narankonjil area. Police have recovered a .32 pistol and Rs 3,120 in cash from their possession. According to the police, both these militants were also involved in extortion and illegal smuggling of weapons.

In addition, on Saturday itself, a militant of the banned organization People's Liberation Army (PLA) was arrested while extorting money from Kangjabi Lerak Machin area. Police are interrogating the three militants and trying to gather information about their other comrades.
