Haryana to Fill 7,005 Vacant Anganwadi Positions, Recruitment Process to Begin Soon

Update: 2025-04-22 07:53 GMT

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved the recruitment process for 7,005 vacant posts of Anganwadi workers and helpers across the state. The process to fill these posts is expected to begin soon. Out of 25,962 sanctioned posts for Anganwadi workers, 2,549 are currently vacant. Similarly, 4,439 out of 25,450 helper posts remain unfilled.

This development follows a query raised during the state assembly’s budget session, where a Congress MLA had asked for district-wise data on the sanctioned and current strength of helpers, workers and supervisors in play-way centers. In response, the Minister for Women and Child Development had assured that the vacant positions would be filled soon.

Recruitment Delayed Due to Selection Guidelines

The proposal to fill these posts had been under consideration for a long time. However, recruitment was delayed due to revised selection criteria as per the central government’s guidelines issued in August 2022. With the clearance now granted, the state government is set to move forward, although it has not yet been decided whether the recruitment will be conducted at the district or state level.

Current Honorarium for Anganwadi Staff

As per the Women and Child Development Department, Anganwadi workers with over 10 years of experience are currently receiving an honorarium of ₹14,750 per month. Those with less than 10 years of experience are being paid ₹13,250. Helpers are receiving ₹7,900 as a monthly honorarium.

Doctors from Waiting List to Join Soon

In a separate update on health services, out of 777 doctors recruited earlier, 531 have already joined their posts in Haryana. The remaining candidates from the waiting list will now be given an opportunity to join. So far, biometric and document verification has been completed for 200 doctors, and new appointments are expected soon.
