Government Announces Free Cancer Vaccine for Girls Up to 14 Years

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): The Fadnavis government of Maharashtra has taken an important step towards strengthening health services. The state government has announced to provide free cancer vaccine for girls up to the age of 14 years. State Health Minister Prakash Abitkar gave information about this scheme on Saturday.


Health Minister Prakash Abitkar said that nowadays people's lifestyle is changing rapidly, due to which cancer cases are also increasing rapidly. Expressing concern, he said that this disease is now affecting people of every age group. In view of this serious situation, the Maharashtra government has decided to start a free cancer vaccination program.


According to media reports, Health Minister Abitkar said, we had proposed to the state's Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar to provide free cancer vaccine for girls aged 0 to 14 years. It is a matter of happiness that he has accepted the proposal and the government will implement this scheme soon.


Health experts believe that the main reason for the increase in cancer cases is not only smoking or drug abuse, but the change in people's eating habits and modern lifestyle is also a big reason. Keeping in mind the increasing cases of cancer especially in children, this free vaccination scheme of the government is being considered an important and commendable initiative.
