Father Allegedly Sells 7-Year-Old Daughter – The Disturbing Truth Behind the Act

Gujarat (The Uttam Hindu): A harrowing case of child trafficking has come to light in Gujarat, where a father reportedly sold his seven-year-old daughter to a man in Rajasthan for ₹4 lakh to settle a debt incurred by his nephew. The girl, rescued by police after five months in Alwar, Rajasthan, has since been sent for medical examination.

Superintendent of Police Vijay Patel from Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district revealed that the father resorted to this desperate act after his nephew, Dilip, who lived with the family, accepted an advance of ₹1.6 lakh from his employer and subsequently vanished, leaving the family responsible for the debt. As the guarantor for the loan, the father faced mounting pressure from the lender.

A relative named Arjun proposed a horrifying solution—selling the girl to a man in Rajasthan who allegedly had connections. Despite the mother’s vehement objections, the father agreed, and the illegal transaction was finalized. Investigators discovered a notarized agreement involving the father and five other relatives, detailing the sale to Ummed Singh, a resident of Alwar. Shockingly, the agreement also stipulated that the girl would marry Singh’s son once she reached adulthood.

The ₹4 lakh obtained from the transaction was distributed among the six individuals involved. Dilip received ₹1.6 lakh to clear his debt, ₹30,000 went to Arjun for arranging the deal, ₹20,000 was given to Lakhpati Nat for providing transportation, and the remaining ₹1.9 lakh was retained by the father.

On Saturday, police arrested Arjun Nat, Sharifa Nat, Lakhpati Nat, and Shravan Nat, who played significant roles in the crime. However, the father and Ummed Singh, the buyer, remain at large. The rescued girl recounted her ordeal, stating that she was forced to perform strenuous household chores, including cleaning, mopping, and dishwashing, at Singh’s home. The case has sparked outrage in the local community, underscoring the devastating impact of financial hardship and the extreme measures some may take under duress.
