New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Elon Musk, the visionary behind X and SpaceX, has once again made waves in the tech world with the launch of Grok 3, the latest AI chatbot from his company, xAI. Musk described Grok 3 as a major improvement over its predecessor developed in an impressively short time. During a widely watched demo event with around 100,000 viewers, xAI demonstrated how Grok 3 outperformed leading AI models like Gemini 2 Pro, DeepSeek V3 and ChatGPT 40, particularly in science, coding and mathematics. Musk also explained the meaning behind the chatbot’s name saying it comes from Robert Heinlein’s novel *Stranger in a Strange Land*, where it signifies deep and complete understanding.

To support Grok 3’s rapid development, xAI built its own data center in just four months, a remarkable achievement in the AI industry. The company activated 100,000 GPUs in 122 days and later doubled its H100 cluster capacity in just 92 days. This rapid expansion enabled xAI to continuously improve Grok 3, positioning it as one of the most advanced AI models available today. The launch marks a significant step forward for Musk in the AI race, as he seeks to challenge industry leaders with a powerful alternative.

The release of Grok 3 comes amid an escalating rivalry between Musk and OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman.
