Earthquake of Magnitude 3.4 Strikes Himachal's Mandi District
Mandi (The Uttam Hindu): An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Sunday morning, causing brief tremors that startled residents. The tremor occurred at approximately 9:18 AM, with its epicenter located at a depth of 5 kilometers in the region.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the coordinates of the quake were latitude 31.49°N and longitude 76.94°E. Although the tremor was mild, it was felt in various parts of the district. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or significant damage to infrastructure.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and stay alert for possible aftershocks. Himachal Pradesh lies in a seismic zone, and such low-intensity earthquakes are relatively common. Residents are advised to follow safety guidelines and be prepared for any emergencies.
