Earthquake Hits Multiple Countries: Tremors Felt in India, Pakistan and More

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A series of earthquakes struck several countries on Saturday, causing widespread tremors and panic among residents. The quakes hit India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Tonga and Papua New Guinea, with magnitudes ranging from 4.0 to 6.5 on the Richter scale.

Countries Affected:

India: Tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Rajouri and Poonch districts, causing people to rush out of their homes in fear. However, there were no reports of loss of life or property damage.

Pakistan: A 5.3-magnitude earthquake hit near Islamabad, with tremors felt in various regions, including Srinagar and Jammu. The epicenter was located approximately   60  kilometers northwest of Rawalpindi.

Tajikistan: A 4.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded at a depth of 110 kilometers.

Tonga: A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck the region.

Papua New Guinea: A 5.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded.

Response and Damage:

Authorities have reassured the public that there are no major impacts from the earthquakes, and residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow standard safety protocols. So far, there have been no reports of significant damage to property or casualties. A video from Pakistan is circulating where tremors can be seen in a shop.
