Vadra Back in Spotlight as ED Reopens File on Controversial Land Deal
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi's husband and businessman Robert Vadra has once again come under the radar of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Vadra appeared before the ED today, 15 April, following a fresh summons issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with a controversial land deal case.
This case dates back to 2018 and is related to the transfer of 3.5 acres of land between Skylight Hospitality, a company linked to Vadra, and real estate giant DLF in Gurugram. Allegations include irregularities in the deal and violations of regulatory norms.
Earlier, Vadra was summoned on 8 April but did not appear. In the latest development, he reached the ED office after receiving the summons and termed the move as a “political vendetta.” He stated, “Whenever I raise my voice for the people, an attempt is made to silence me. I have always cooperated and answered all questions, and I will continue to do so.”
Notably, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Vadra had expressed his intention to enter politics. He said he is committed to working for the people and would do so with full force if the public supports him.
The investigation remains ongoing as ED officials continue their questioning.
