Child Rescued After 16 Hours in Borewell, Found 39 Feet Deep

Guna (The Uttam Hindu): A 10-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Raghogarh, Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, was successfully rescued after 16 hours of intense efforts. The child, identified as Sumit Meena from Pipaliya village was stuck at a depth of 39 feet and was safely retrieved by the rescue team. His condition is reported to be stable and he has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment.

The rescue operation began shortly after the incident was reported on Saturday evening. Advanced equipment including JCB and Pokelin machines were used to dig a 45-foot-deep parallel tunnel to reach the child. Oxygen was supplied to him through pipes and a camera inserted into the borewell revealed water rising to his neck. Sumit fell into the open borewell while flying a kite at around 5 PM and his family raised the alarm when he didn’t return home.

The operation was closely monitored by Guna Collector Dr. Satendra Singh and other administrative officials who remained at the site throughout the ordeal. The rescue team’s tireless efforts ensured the boy’s safe recovery marking a successful end to the challenging operation.
