Sukma (The Uttam Hindu): A big and decisive operation is going on against Naxalites on Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra border. In this operation going on for the last 16 hours, security forces have surrounded more than 300 Naxalites on the hills of Karregatta, Nadpalli and Pujari Kanker. In this operation, notorious Naxal commanders like Hidma, Deva and Damodar are on the target of security forces. About 5,000 soldiers are engaged in the operation and continuous firing is going on. Security forces have killed five Naxalites so far.

IED trap, drone surveillance

According to information received from Bijapur district, Naxalites have planted more than 100 IEDs in the area. First, de-mining operations are being carried out by the security forces. The hills of Karregatta are being constantly monitored through drones and satellites. Special forces like CRPF, DRG, STF, Cobra, Greyhound and C-60 are jointly participating in the operation.

Hidma, Deva and Damodar, all three commanders belong to Purvati village, which used to be a major base of Naxal logistics earlier. But now due to the presence of security forces, the supply of logistics to the Naxalites has almost stopped. Security has been strengthened in areas like Venkatpuram, Pujari Kanker and Nambi, which has limited the routes for the Naxalites.

Government's plan and strict monitoring

The government has set a target to end Naxalism by 2026. In this direction, the central and state governments are jointly monitoring this operation. In view of the possibility of the presence of Naxal bunkers and heavy weapons of Naxalites in the area, continuous monitoring is being done through drones and helicopters.
