New York (The Uttam Hindu): A comment made on America's newly elected President Donald Trump has costed ABC News Channel heavily. In the defamation case, the news channel will now have to pay Donald Trump $15 million, i.e. about $127.5 crore.

Actually, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos had made a controversial comment, claiming that Donald Trump was found guilty in a rape case. This comment proved to be false, as a result of which a defamation case has been filed against the channel.

The channel had to agree to pay $15 million to Donald Trump in the defamation case. This amount will be used to build Trump's library, which will work for a non-profit purpose. In addition, the channel also had to pay the legal fees of Trump's lawyer, which further increases the total cost of this case.

ABC News wrote in the editors note that the channel will pay this amount to Donald Trump as a settlement. The channel had expressed regret over the anchor's mistake. Let us tell you that the anchor had made this comment during 'The Week' program on March 10.
