Toronto (The Uttam Hindu): An Air Canada flight caught fire while landing at Halifax Airport in a harrowing incident. The plane veered off the runway, causing its landing gear to break, and igniting a fire shortly thereafter. As of the latest updates, there have been no reports of casualties.


The flight, identified as AC2259, was being operated by PAL Airlines on behalf of Air Canada, traveling between St. John's and Halifax. This accident occurred just hours after a devastating plane crash in South Korea. A Jeju Air flight carrying 181 passengers exploded upon landing at Muan Airport, leaving only two survivors, with 179 feared dead.

Authorities are investigating the Halifax incident, which has raised concerns about aviation safety following the tragic events in South Korea.
