A Bolt from the Blue: Pakistan Cricket Team Head Coach Resigns Unexpectedly, Big Reason Revealed
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan cricket team has suffered another setback. Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has resigned from the post of head coach before the South Africa tour. He has taken this decision due to differences with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Gillespie did not catch the flight to South Africa and informed the PCB that he no longer wanted to continue in the position. Former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed has been appointed as interim coach in his place. According to sources, differences arose between Gillespie and the PCB over not renewing the contract of bowling coach Tim Nielsen. Gillespie was unhappy with the decision and felt the PCB did not consult him about it.
Instability in the team
Pakistan cricket team has been facing instability for some time now. Frequent change of coaches and alleged factionalism among the players has affected the team's performance. After Gary Kirsten, now Jason Gillespie's resignation is a big blow to the team.
South Africa Tour
Pakistan has to play a two-match Test series in South Africa. The team has to play the first Test match in Centurion from December 26. The performance of the team on this tour will largely depend on the ability of Aaqib Javed.
