Kabul(The Uttam Hindu): Khalil Rahman Haqqani, Afghan Taliban's acting minister for refugees, was killed in a blast in Kabul, as reported by his nephew, Anas Haqqani. Khalil Haqqani had been serving within the Taliban's interim government since the 2021 foreign forces withdrawal and was a leading member of the Haqqani network-a group responsible for many attacks during the war in Afghanistan.

The U.S. declared him a "Specially Designated Global Terrorist" in 2011, offering $5 million for information leading to his capture. Attacks continue in cities after the Taliban promised stability after taking control. The death of Haqqani comes after a spate of high-profile bombings in Kabul, which were blamed on ISIS in recent years.
