New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu):During a joint briefing with President Donald Trump in the US on Thursday Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed India's vision of "Make India Great Again" (MIGA) inspired by Trump's iconic slogan "Make America Great Again" (MAGA). PM Modi explained that when combined, the visions of MAGA and MIGA form a powerful partnership for mutual prosperity. He said, "The people of America are familiar with President Trump's motto, 'MAGA - Make America Great Again.' Similarly, the people of India are focusing on their heritage and development as they advance rapidly towards the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047. In the American context it is 'Make India Great Again' - MIGA. When America and India collaborate, MAGA plus MIGA creates a 'mega partnership for prosperity,' fueling our shared goals with a new sense of scale and potential."

The two leaders also revealed that India and the US have set a target to reach USD 500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030.

PM Modi stated, "Today, we have set a goal to more than double our bilateral trade, aiming for USD 500 billion by 2030. Our teams will soon finalize a mutually beneficial trade agreement." He emphasized that both nations are advancing towards joint development, production, and the transfer of technology. Regarding energy, he added, "We will strengthen oil and gas trade to secure India's energy needs. Investment in energy infrastructure will increase, and in the nuclear energy sector, we discussed enhancing our cooperation, especially with small modular reactors." He also highlighted America's key role in supporting India's defense preparedness, noting that new technology and equipment will enhance India's defense capabilities in the future. PM Modi further announced that Washington and New Delhi are working to finalize a "mutually beneficial trade agreement" in the near future. PM Modi, who became the fourth world leader to visit the US since President Trump's return to the White House, met with both the US President and billionaire Elon Musk on Thursday. Their meeting took place just hours after Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on all countries, including India.
