Israel threatens escalated military action against Gaza if hostage deal not reached soon

Jerusalem (The Uttam Hindu): Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has issued a stern warning to Hamas stating that Israel will intensify its military operations in Gaza if Hamas does not agree to a deal for the release of hostages "soon." Katz emphasized that if Hamas fails to allow the release of Israeli hostages the group will face military actions "of an intensity not seen in Gaza for a long time." The situation has escalated with stalled negotiations and if Hamas continues to resist Israel plans to escalate its military actions against Gaza's militant strongholds.
The ongoing conflict following the Hamas-led assault on October 7 2023 has caused significant devastation in Gaza resulting in widespread destruction and loss of life. Efforts to negotiate a ceasefire have been complicated by disagreements between the two parties with Israel asserting its right to resume military action if it perceives a security threat and Hamas seeking to extend the truce.
