Hindu temples in Bangladesh engulfed in flames: ISKCON idols destroyed in shocking Dhaka blaze
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh continue to escalate. Recently, miscreants targeted a temple in Dhaka, setting it on fire, resulting in the destruction of several idols inside. Radhaman Das, Vice President of ISKCON Kolkata, informed the media that the fire was set early on Saturday morning at an ISKCON temple. The fire led to the destruction of the idol of Lord Krishna. He added that another ISKCON center was also targeted. This temple is located in the Turag police station area of Dhaka.
Sharing pictures on X, Radhaman Das said, "Another ISKCON Namhatta center was set on fire in Bangladesh. The idols of Shri Shri Lakshmi Narayan and all items inside the temple were completely destroyed. This center is located in Dhaka. Between 2:00 and 3:00 AM today, miscreants set fire to the Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple and Shri Shri Mahabhagya Lakshmi Narayan Temple, both under the Hari Krishna Namhatta Sangh. This temple is located in Dhour village in Dhaka district, under the Turag police station." He further said, "The atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh continue unabated. We are deeply saddened by this." He mentioned that the vandalism and arson took place between 2:00 and 3:00 AM in the morning.
Since the formation of the interim government and the removal of the Awami League from power in August, there have been attacks on ISKCON properties in various parts of Bangladesh over the past four months. Meanwhile, Sukanta Majumdar, President of the BJP in West Bengal and Union Minister, condemned the horrific arson at the ISKCON Namhatta center in Dhaka. He said, "I strongly condemn the devastating fire at the ISKCON Namhatta center in Dhaka, which destroyed the idol of Lakshmi Narayan and sacred temple items. This is an unforgivable act of hatred against a place of worship. Immediate action must be taken to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of religious minorities."
