Beirut(The Uttam Hindu): Tensions flared in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley following the fatal shooting of Hezbollah's top commander Sheikh Mohammad Ali Hamadi by unknown gunmen. The attack took place in the Machgara area, where Hamadi, the commander of Hezbollah’s Western Al-Beka region, was shot six times from a moving vehicle while near his home.

Hamadi, a prominent figure in Hezbollah, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Lebanese authorities have begun an investigation into the incident, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the murder.

Hamadi had long been a target on the FBI's Most Wanted list due to his involvement in terrorist activities. He is notorious for his role in the 1985 hijacking of Lufthansa Flight 847, which involved 153 passengers, including several Americans. During the hijacking, an American passenger was tortured and later killed. Initial reports suggest the attack may be linked to a longstanding family dispute, though authorities are continuing to investigate all possible angles.
