Washington (The Uttam Hindu): US President Donald Trump has nominated Indian-origin lawyer Harmeet K. Dhillon as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the US Department of Justice. Dhillon expressed gratitude for the nomination, promising to support the country's civil rights agenda.
Trump praised her career, saying she has been an outspoken advocate for free speech, Christian rights, and legal battles against corporate discrimination and "woke" policies. He also mentioned her significant role as an election lawyer. A graduate of Dartmouth College and University of Virginia Law School, Dhillon clerked on the US Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
