Gaza (The Uttam Hindu):Gaza’s bakeries are just days away from running out of flour, sparking fears of a severe bread shortage as the Israeli blockade enters its longest phase. With food stocks depleting and aid distributions cut in half, the humanitarian crisis is rapidly escalating for the region’s 2 million residents.

The World Food Program confirmed that its flour reserves can only support bread production for 800,000 people until Tuesday, and within two weeks, food rations will run out entirely, leaving only emergency biscuits for 415,000 people.

The month-long blockade has devastated local food production, and markets are barren of essential items like meat, vegetables, and fresh produce. Prices have soared, and families are relying completely on dwindling aid to survive.

As Israeli bombardment continues, aid workers are unable to move supplies safely, with hospitals rationing critical medicines and fuel running out. The UN’s Palestinian aid agency, UNRWA, has only a few days of supplies left.

While international pressure mounts on Israel to lift the blockade, the country insists the siege remains in place to force Hamas to comply with ceasefire terms. With hunger and malnutrition spreading, humanitarian groups are warning that Gaza is on the verge of a catastrophic crisis.
