Former BC Premier John Horgan dies after battling with cancer
Ottawa (The Uttam Hindu): John Horgan, the former Premier of British Columbia, has passed away after a prolonged struggle with cancer. He was 65 years old. Horgan had been battling thyroid cancer since his diagnosis in June and had spent much of the past five months receiving treatment in the hospital. At the time of his death, Horgan was living in Berlin with his wife, Ellie, where he had been serving as Canada’s ambassador to Germany. However, in his final months, Horgan returned to his home province of British Columbia for end-of-life care. He passed away at the BC Cancer Centre at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, where he had been receiving care in his final days.
Horgan’s death marks the end of a remarkable political career, during which he served as Premier of British Columbia from 2017 to 2022.
