Thailand(The Uttam Hindu): The police of Thailand detained more than 120 at a drug-fueled party at a hotel room in the heart of central Bangkok during the early morning on Sunday. They found out that among the 124 detained people, 31 carried illegal drugs which include crystal methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and ketamine. The 66 who were held for drugs tests yielded positive.

Most of those apprehended were males with about five of them being foreigners. Police are seeking court authorization to hold the suspects for other more days than the legal 48 hours. The rest were released.

Thailand is one of the prominent centers for illegal drug trafficking in Southeast Asia, where often police raids and drug seizures occur. Last year, UNODC reported that the most ever 190 tonnes of methamphetamine were seized from the region. Strict laws are implemented by Thailand, and possession of category one drugs, such as Ecstasy and meth, carries prison sentences for up to 10 years.
