Kabul (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan launched airstrikes on the Bermal district of Paktika province in Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people, including women and children. The death toll is expected to rise. According to reports, the attacks, which occurred on the night of December 24, targeted seven villages, including Laman, where five members of the same family were killed.

Local sources have claimed that Pakistani jets carried out heavy bombing during the airstrikes. Reports indicate that the Murg Bazar village in Bermal was completely destroyed, further worsening the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The airstrikes caused significant civilian casualties and extensive damage, escalating tensions in the region.

Khaama Press reported that rescue operations are ongoing, and further investigations are needed to confirm details and clarify the responsibility for the attacks. Information regarding the motive behind the attacks is expected to emerge soon.

The Taliban Ministry of Defense has vowed to take retaliatory action following the airstrikes in Bermal, Paktika. The ministry stated that defending their land and sovereignty is their legitimate right and condemned the attack, claiming that "Waziristani refugees" were among the targeted individuals. While Pakistani authorities have not officially confirmed the airstrikes, close security sources from the military suggested that the attack targeted Taliban bases near the border.
