Buxar (The Uttam Hindu): In a horrifying incident from Bihar’s Buxar district, a woman has been arrested for allegedly strangling her eight-year-old stepdaughter, burning her body and concealing the remains in a gunny bag. The shocking crime came to light when police discovered the charred body inside a wooden box at the family's residence in Naya Bhojpur, under the Dumraon police station limits on Saturday night.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of the woman on charges of murdering her stepdaughter, identified as Aanchal Kumari. Buxar Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya stated that the victim’s family had reported her missing on Saturday, leading police to initiate a search operation. Upon inspecting the house, officers found the burned body hidden inside a gunny bag placed in a wooden box within a room.

During initial questioning, the stepmother admitted to strangling the child, setting her body on fire and later concealing it. Based on her confession and evidence collected from the scene, police took her into custody. The victim’s body has been sent for scientific examination. However, the woman did not disclose the motive behind the crime. Officials also revealed that the victim’s father resides in Delhi and further investigations are underway.
