Dehradun (The Uttam Hindu): A woman spent around Rs 15 lakh in an attempt to lose weight, but despite the promises made by the beauty company, she neither lost the expected weight nor saw any improvement in her appearance. She filed a harassment complaint with the State Women's Commission against the beauty clinic located on Rajpur Road. After mediation and counseling by the commission, the company has agreed to refund Rs 8 lakh.

The woman explained that she had approached the clinic in 2021 to lose weight, weighing 85 kg. The clinic had promised a 25 kg weight loss within a year, along with therapies for loose skin. However, after undergoing various skin and weight loss treatments, she saw little to no improvement. The woman claimed she paid Rs 15 lakh for the services.

In response, the company stated that the woman had actually paid Rs 12.91 lakh. During the counseling session, the company’s sector head mentioned that the treatments had caused burning and itching on the woman’s face, and she had only lost 5 kg. The woman also contracted Covid during the treatment period. According to the Commission's Chairperson, Kusum Kandwal, the company alleged that the woman was demanding Rs 25 lakh. Ultimately, the company agreed to refund Rs 8 lakh as part of the settlement.
