Pune (The Uttam Hindu): In a heartbreaking incident late on Sunday night in Pune, a dumper truck ran over nine people sleeping on the footpath, killing three individuals, including two children aged 1 and 2. Six others were critically injured in the accident. The driver of the dumper, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, has been arrested.

The tragic event occurred around 1 AM in the Kesnand Phata area of Wagholi, where the dumper, speeding at the time, crushed the family members sleeping on the footpath. The truck continued to move forward, running over the victims.

Following the accident, there was widespread chaos and panic as the injured were quickly rushed to the hospital. Police were alerted, and they responded swiftly, arresting the driver of the vehicle. The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Vishal Vinod. The injured are Janaki Dinesh Pawar (21), Rinesha Vinod Pawar (18), Roshan Shashadhu Bhosale (9), Nagesh Nivrutti Pawar (27), Darshan Sanjay Vairal (18), and Alisha Vinod Pawar (47). All the victims were from Amravati.
