San Diego (The Uttam Hindu): A 26-year-old man tragically lost his life after being attacked by his own three dogs in Mira Mesa Park, San Diego, California. The victim, Pedro Luis Ortega, was with his young son near a playground when the incident occurred. Witnesses reported that they attempted to intervene using a golf club. When police arrived, they deployed a taser on the dogs as they fled the scene.

One of the dogs entered a nearby garage after the attack, as shown in doorbell footage. The homeowner described the dog as being skinny and covered in blood, which he quickly realized did not belong to the animal itself. He noted, “He was skinny. You could see all of his ribs. He was covered in blood head to toe, so it was probably not his own, and he had a Taser dart sticking out of him.” The aftermath of the attack was still visible days later, with blood remaining on the homeowner's car.

Following a brief lockdown at a nearby elementary school, all three dogs were captured and placed in quarantine. They were later euthanized after a second co-owner relinquished them. Additionally, another individual sustained serious injuries during the incident and is currently hospitalized. The local humane society identified the dogs as an XL bully breed. A memorial for Ortega has been established at the park, featuring candles and a basketball. A neighbor expressed disbelief over the incident, stating, “I’ve never seen anything like this happen here before and hope it never happens again.”
