Bhopal (The Uttam Hindu): Saint Siyaram Baba, a revered figure known for his efforts in the upliftment of the Narmada ghats and temples in the Nimar region of Madhya Pradesh, passed away this morning at the age of 94 following a brief illness. His death has caused widespread mourning across the region. Khargone's Superintendent of Police, Dharamraj Meena, confirmed to local media that Baba passed away at 6:10 AM today at the Bhattyan village Ashram near the Narmada River. His mortal remains are currently being kept for the last darshan, with the final rites scheduled for 4 PM today.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected to attend the ceremony. Baba had been admitted to a private hospital in Sanawad a few days ago due to pneumonia. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Bhattyan Ashram in Kasrawad Tehsil, per his wishes. Following instructions from Chief Minister Yadav, a medical team from Indore Medical College had been monitoring his health and providing necessary treatments at the ashram.

Baba, a devoted follower of Lord Hanuman, was known for accepting donations of just Rs 10, which he used to fund the restoration of Narmada ghats and the enhancement of religious institutions. Despite his limited education, he constantly recited the Ramcharitmanas and spiritually uplifted visitors with his guidance. Baba was also known for his extraordinary penance, having reportedly stood on one leg for 12 years. Despite his simplicity, he lived a self-sufficient life, cooking his own meals and performing all tasks by himself.
