Woman's Kidney Removed Under Guise of Surgery, Discovered 5 Years Later: FIR Against 6 Doctors
Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): After a court's order an FIR has been lodged against doctors at KMC Hospital. The police have initiated action and are working to arrest the accused. KMC Hospital has been in the news multiple times before. A shocking incident has emerged from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh where a woman has accused KMC Hospital and Research Center of a serious malpractice. Kavita, a resident of Bulandshahr has alleged that in 2017 during her treatment at KMC Hospital one of her kidneys was removed without her consent. It was only after five years in 2022 when she underwent another examination that this startling truth came to light. Based on the court's order an FIR has been filed against six doctors and staff members of the hospital.
The victim Kavita is from Bugrasi, Bulandshahr. She stated that in 2017 she visited KMC Hospital after falling ill. Dr. Sunil Gupta recommended surgery and on May 20, 2017 she underwent the procedure. She was discharged on May 24 with assurances that her treatment was successful. However, when she had an examination elsewhere on October 28, 2022 she was shocked to discover that her left kidney was missing. Allegation of kidney removal and sale Kavita claims that Dr. Sunil Gupta, along with other doctors and staff removed her kidney and sold it. Despite this, she was given incorrect reports and continued receiving medication. The allegations further include that whenever her health deteriorated the doctors hid the truth from her. Kavita sought legal recourse and following the orders of the ACJM-III of Bulandshahr an FIR was registered at Narsena Police Station against surgeon Dr. Sunil Gupta his wife Dr. Pratibha Gupta, Dr. Ajay N. Vats, Dr. Nikita Jaggi, Dr. Satish Arora, Dr. Seema Varshney and others.
Victim alleges assault and death threats. The accused have been charged under the Human Organs Transplantation Act of 1994 and various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Kavita alleges that when she visited the hospital in 2022 to file a complaint, the doctors and staff physically assaulted her and snatched documents from her. In July 2023 Dr. Sunil Gupta allegedly sent goons to Kavita’s home who threatened her with death if she did not withdraw the case. When attempts were made to contact Dr. Sunil Gupta for a response he did not answer the phone.
