New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A 23-year-old man from Xian, China recently underwent surgery to remove a dice that had been stuck in his nose for two decades. The man, named Xiaoma, had been suffering from persistent sneezing, nasal congestion and runny nose for about a month, after which he had to visit a doctor. Initially, Xiaoma tried to get relief through traditional Chinese medicine, but his symptoms kept getting worse. When the treatment did not bring relief, he went to Xian Gaoxin Hospital, where doctors discovered that he had allergic rhinitis. However, further investigation revealed something more unusual. An endoscopy performed by otolaryngologist Dr Yang Rong revealed a foreign object in Xiaoma's nasal passage. Shocking discovery

According to a report in the South China Morning Post, doctors discovered a small, white object covered in secretions during a nasal endoscopy. Upon removal, it was found to be a two-centimetre dice, which had partially rusted due to being stuck in Xiaoma's nose for a long time. "The dice was stuck to the surrounding tissues, and removing it was risky because it could fall into her airway, causing a suffocation risk," Yang said.

Childhood incident

Xiaoma believes the dice may have gotten into his nose when he was just three or four years old. While playing, he may have inserted it without understanding the potential consequences. Despite years of discomfort, it was only in recent weeks that his symptoms became so severe that he had to visit a doctor.
