Pathanamthitta (The Uttam Hindu): In a shocking case from Pathanamthitta, Kerala an 18-year-old sportswoman has alleged that she was raped by over 60 individuals over a span of five years while she was a minor. The allegations came to light during counseling sessions conducted by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), following reports from her teachers about noticeable changes in her behavior.

The police have arrested six individuals so far, identified as Subin (24), S. Sandeep (30), V.K. Vineeth (30), K. Anandu (21) and Srini, alias S. Sudhi Srini (24), all from Chenneerkkara. These arrests were made after the victim provided a statement detailing her ordeal, which included abuse by coaches, classmates and neighbors since she was 13 years old. The investigation has revealed at least 62 potential perpetrators and cases have been registered against 40 individuals under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.


The victim's first experience of abuse reportedly occurred in 2019 when she was coerced by her boyfriend and subsequently exploited by his friends. The authorities are taking this matter seriously with a special team formed to conduct a thorough investigation. The police are currently recording the victim's statement and gathering further evidence to ensure justice is served in this harrowing case.
