"I Need a Break!" Man Stabs Four After Leave Request Rejected

Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): Chaos unfolded in the Newtown area of Kolkata on Thursday after a West Bengal government employee allegedly stabbed four colleagues for being denied leave. The accused, identified as Amit Kumar Sarkar, works in the technical education department of Karigari Bhavan.
According to officials, Sarkar attacked his colleagues following a heated argument over his leave request. Armed with a knife, he stabbed at least four people before attempting to flee. However, instead of escaping, he was seen walking through the city in broad daylight, carrying the blood-stained weapon. A viral video shows him strolling with a bag on his back, warning passersby not to approach.
The victims, identified as Jaydeb Chakraborty, Santunu Saha, Sartha Late, and Sheikh Satabul, were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Two of them are in critical condition.
The police arrested Sarkar soon after the incident and are currently investigating the motive behind the attack. While the exact reason for his leave denial remains unclear, officials are also probing whether mental health issues played a role in the attack.
