Bhopal (The Uttam Hindu): A fighter jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in the fields of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, following a system malfunction. Despite the crash, both pilots ejected from the aircraft in time and are reported to be safe, though they suffered minor injuries.

The crash occurred during a routine training flight. According to the Air Force, the malfunction in the aircraft's system caused the plane to crash and catch fire in the fields. Both pilots were able to eject themselves from the plane before it crashed, which ensured their safety. An Air Force helicopter arrived at the scene to evacuate the pilots, and they were subsequently flown to Gwalior for medical attention.

Local villagers gathered at the crash site shortly after the incident, assisting in moving the injured pilots to a safer location. A defense official confirmed that a Court of Inquiry will be conducted to investigate the cause of the crash.



The Air Force, in a statement on 'X', said: "An Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 aircraft crashed near Shivpuri (Gwalior) today after a system malfunction during a routine training flight. Both pilots ejected safely. The Air Force has ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident." A photo of one of the injured pilots surfaced online, showing him speaking on his mobile phone while recovering from the incident.
