According to the police, Head Constable Azad Akhtar, during his patrol in the New Usmanpur area, spotted Mohammed Adil, a known criminal, in suspicious circumstances. As a result, he took him to the Gautam Vihar police booth for questioning. At that moment, Adil's brother, Bawla, a local criminal, arrived at the police booth with 3-4 women. They began to verbally abuse and physically assault Akhtar. Bawla tore Akhtar's uniform, and Adil attacked him with a sharp weapon, stabbing him in the chest. Akhtar was severely injured, and the attackers fled the scene.

Azad Akhtar was rushed to the JP Hospital for treatment. During the investigation, the police received information that Adil was hiding in Yamuna Khadar. The police asked him to surrender, but instead, Adil pulled out a pistol and opened fire on the police team. In response, the police team, after assessing the situation and with no other options, fired two rounds from their service pistols in self-defense. One bullet hit Adil in his right leg, and the police were able to arrest him. Adil has 27 criminal cases registered against him.
