New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- With the change of power in Delhi, good days have started for Yamuna. Steps have started to be taken to clean the river and as part of those steps, a government initiative has started today on Sunday as part of a new cleaning campaign. Delhi's Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena has instructed senior officials of the Delhi government to clean the Yamuna river in time.

After this instruction, high-tech machines have been deployed near Yamuna. First of all, the garbage, silt and other dirt deposited in the Yamuna river will be removed. Along with this, cleaning of Najafgarh drain, supplementary drain and other big drains will also be started.

The capacity and functioning of existing sewage treatment plants (STPs) will be monitored daily to ensure that they are working effectively. Giving information, the office of Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena said that the work of cleaning the Yamuna river has started. Garbage removal machines, weed cutting machines and a dredge utility craft have started the cleaning operation in the river today. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena met the Chief Secretary and ACS (I&FC) yesterday and asked them to start the work immediately.
