Kullu (The Uttam Hindu)- A landslide occurred near the Gurudwara in Manikaran of Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday evening and a big tree fell. Six people died on the spot in the accident, while many others were injured. The incident happened around 5 pm. At that time many people were sitting on the roadside in front of the Gurudwara.


According to the information, a huge tree along with debris from the hill suddenly fell on the road, due to which many people got trapped. The dead include a roadside hawker, two people in a Sumo car and three tourists. The process of identifying the dead is going on. Kullu Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ashwani Kumar said that six people have lost their lives in this accident and many others have been injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for immediate treatment. He said that relief and rescue work is being carried out rapidly. Administration and police teams have reached the spot and are handling the situation.


Due to landslide from the hill, the road connecting Kullu to Manikaran has been blocked and long queues of vehicles have formed on both sides of the road. To control the situation, the police have stopped the traffic before Manikaran so that the situation does not worsen. Since this accident happened at a busy and religious place like Manikaran, there is an atmosphere of panic among the local people and tourists. The administration has appealed to the people to be cautious and stay away from the spot. The reasons for the accident are being investigated.
