SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami Resigns, Cites Key Reasons, WATCH VIDEO

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu)- Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee chief Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami surprised everyone by announcing his resignation today. In a press conference held here today, Advocate Dhami said that the action taken by Jathedar Raghbir Singh of Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Facebook regarding the removal of Jathedar Harpreet Singh from his post was condemnable.

Currently, Giani Raghbir Singh is abroad and he had shared the post on February 13 after the SGPC's decision. Before resigning, Pradhan Dhami also read the lines of that post and said that the post clearly shows that Giani Raghbir Singh is telling him the reason for removing Giani Harpreet Singh from the post.

Expressed displeasure over Sikhs not having turbans on their heads

He expressed displeasure over Sikhs being deported from America not having turbans on their heads and demanded action in this matter. Harjinder Singh said in a press conference on Monday that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee should take action against the children who are being deported from America, their turbans (dastar) are being removed, and this matter should be investigated. Necessary action should be taken against whoever is guilty in this matter. There are differences in the working of the SGPC and it needs to work unitedly.

He will always remain devoted to Akal Takht.

He expressed concern that the power of Sikhs will weaken due to the formation of a separate committee in Haryana and said that there is a need for unity in the Sikh community, but the differences in the community are increasing due to the formation of a separate committee in Haryana. He said that his life is like an 'open book' and he will always remain devoted to Akal Takht.
