Security Forces Carry Out Operations in Manipur, Seize Arms and Ammunition

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Security forces in Manipur have conducted intelligence-based combing and cordon-and-search operations in both hill and valley districts to recover looted arms and ammunition, as confirmed by the police on Saturday. These operations led to the recovery of various weapons and military supplies, including 19 pistols with magazines, a .32 pistol with magazine, 36 hand grenades (without detonators), AK and INSAS ammunition, smoke and stun grenades, radio sets, tear smoke shells, BP helmets, and several empty cases from AK 47, INSAS, and SLR rifle ammunition. The recovered items were found in Heikrumakhong village, Khabeisoi village, and Heingang Khong area under the Heingang Police jurisdiction in Imphal East district.

Earlier, on March 10, security forces dismantled five illegal bunkers in Kukimun and Lamdan Kuki villages in Bishnupur district. To facilitate the movement of essential goods, security forces ensured the safe passage of vehicles along National Highways 37 and 2, with 115 and 324 vehicles carrying essential items, respectively. Tight security measures were imposed at vulnerable locations, including providing security convoys in sensitive stretches.

Additionally, 110 checkpoints have been set up across various districts in both hill and valley areas. According to the police statement, no individuals were detained for violations during the operations. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from believing "fake posts" and directed them to contact the Central Control Room for any clarifications. The police also called on citizens to return any looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the nearest police station or security forces.
