Satpal Sangwan, Former Haryana Minister, Passes Away; Funeral Scheduled for Today

Haryana (The Uttam Hindu): Former Haryana Minister Satpal Sangwan passed away on Monday at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after a prolonged illness. The 83-year-old leader was battling liver cancer and had been undergoing treatment for some time. His condition deteriorated in recent days, and despite continuous medical care, there was no improvement. His son, Sunil Sangwan, who is the current MLA of Dadri, was by his side in the hospital.
As soon as the news of his demise spread, a large number of supporters and well-wishers gathered at his residence to pay their last respects. His final rites will take place today at 2 PM in his native village Chandeni in Dadri district. Many political leaders have expressed their condolences, recognizing his contributions to Haryana's development.
Satpal Sangwan had a long and distinguished political career. He contested six elections from the Charkhi Dadri assembly constituency and won twice. His first victory came in 1996 as an MLA from the Haryana Vikas Party. He later won again in 2009 on a Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) ticket, which later merged with Congress, leading to his appointment as the Cooperative Minister in Bhupendra Singh Hooda’s government. Throughout his career, he also contested elections on Congress and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) tickets. Known for his strong grassroots presence and development work, his passing is seen as a major loss for the region.
