New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): With the Delhi Assembly elections just around the corner political controversies are heating up. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Kalkaji Assembly candidate Ramesh Bidhuri has once again sparked debate with a viral video in which he makes a controversial remark about Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi. In the video, Bidhuri is heard saying that if elected he will make the roads of Kalkaji "as smooth as Priyanka Gandhi's cheeks."

The comment has drawn sharp criticism from the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Congress has called the remark an insult to all women and demanded action against Bidhuri. AAP leaders also condemned the statement, accusing the BJP of resorting to derogatory language ahead of the elections. In response, Bidhuri defended his comment by pointing out past controversial remarks made by other politicians including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Hema Malini and Pawan Khera, questioning whether any of them had apologized.

Ramesh Bidhuri is no stranger to controversy with a history of making objectionable statements. As an MP from South Delhi he made headlines in September 2023 for using derogatory language against BSP MP Danish Ali, leading to an uproar in Parliament. His remarks were expunged from the record by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Bidhuri later issued an apology.
