Chandigarh ( The Uttam Hindu): On November 6, 2024, Chandigarh University was announced to have made a significant leap in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, rising 29 places to secure the 120th position among Asian universities. Published by QS, a global university ranking organization, Chandigarh University also emerged as the top private university in India, outshining several prestigious institutions, including many IITs and NITs.


The university's achievements are based on improved performance across key indicators such as Employer Reputation, Academic Reputation, International Faculty Ratio, and Faculty-Student Ratio. For instance, it climbed to 56th in Employer Reputation and made a significant leap in Academic Reputation, moving to 119th. This recognition places Chandigarh University in the same league as prominent institutions like IITs, IISc, and JNU.


Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu highlighted the university's commitment to academic excellence and impactful research, emphasizing that these rankings reflect the efforts of the university's faculty, staff, and students. The institution has also outperformed numerous universities from countries like China, Japan, and South Korea.


Deepinder Singh Sandhu, Senior Director, attributed the university's success to education-driven policies from the Indian government, particularly praising the transformative impact of PM Modi's academic reforms. Additionally, Jai Inder Singh Sandhu noted Chandigarh University's consistent ascent in rankings, which demonstrates its ongoing dedication to providing a high-quality, research-driven education.


The university has also been recognized for significant contributions, such as filing over 4,300 patents and hosting over 3,000 international students.
