Private Bus Falls into Gorge in Kullu, Driver Dies on Spot, Several Injured
Kullu (The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic bus accident that occurred this morning in the Ani subdivision of Kullu district, a bus driver died and many others suffered injuries. The accident happened near Shakelad, not far from Shwad, when an NPT private bus from Karsog to Ani lost control while trying to take a curve on the winding hilly road.
According to reports, the driver of the bus was unable to maintain control near Shwad and the vehicle plunged approximately 200 feet into a deep gorge. The driver was declared dead at the scene, while several passengers were injured in the crash.
Soon after receiving news of the accident, a team from Ani police station and local administration rushed to the spot. With the help of the local people, the passengers were taken out from the wreckage and taken to Ani Hospital by 108 emergency ambulances. Treatment is being provided to the injured by medical teams, but no confirmation has been received regarding their injuries.
A total number of passengers on the bus, which was traveling from Karsog to Ani, is not known because the exact number of persons injured in the accident remains unknown. The authorities are still investigating the cause of this accident, which is likely to have been due to the loss of control on hilly terrain.
