Prayagraj (The Uttam Hindu): A devastating road accident on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway in Meja late Friday night claimed 10 lives and left 19 others injured. According to police, a Bolero carrying devotees from Korba, Chhattisgarh collided head-on with a bus near the Maha Kumbh fairground. All 10 passengers in the Bolero lost their lives on the spot.


The bus, carrying devotees from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh was returning from Sangam and heading to Varanasi when the collision occurred. The injured were rushed to CHC Ramnagar for medical treatment.


Authorities swiftly responded to the scene securing the area and taking possession of the bodies. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.


CM Yogi Expresses Condolences, Orders Medical Aid.


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured and directed district officials to ensure proper medical care for all victims by facilitating their immediate hospitalization.


Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
