New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): There is great news for devotees of Baba Barfani, as the dates for this year’s Amarnath Yatra have been officially announced. The Amarnath Shrine Board has declared that the annual Amarnath pilgrimage will commence on July 3, 2025, and conclude on August 9, 2025. This decision was taken in an important meeting of the Shrine Board, where special focus was placed on making the pilgrimage smoother and safer.

This year, extensive arrangements will be made for accommodation, food, and security to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for the devotees. Like last year, the registration for the Amarnath Yatra will be available both online and offline. In 2024, the registration process began on April 17, and it is expected to start around the same time this year as well.

A crucial meeting, chaired by Amarnath Shrine Board Chairman and Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, was attended by several senior officials, including J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo. The meeting emphasized prioritizing security measures and improving facilities for pilgrims.

Ropeway Project Approved for Amarnath Yatra

To further enhance convenience, the central government has approved a ropeway project from Baltal to the holy Amarnath cave. This project is part of a nationwide initiative to develop ropeways at 18 religious and tourist destinations across India. The ropeway will make the pilgrimage significantly easier and faster for devotees.

At present, pilgrims undertake the journey via:

- A 38-kilometer-long trek from Pahalgam

- A 13-kilometer difficult trek from Baltal

Once the ropeway is built, the travel time and difficulty will be drastically reduced. According to officials, the proposed ropeway will be 11.6 kilometers long, making it the largest among the 18 approved ropeway projects in India. This ropeway will provide a more affordable and convenient alternative to traditional travel methods like trekking, helicopters, ponies, and palanquins. Further details regarding Amarnath Yatra registration and additional arrangements will be announced soon on the official Shrine Board website and other government platforms.
