Former CM Bhupesh Baghel's Troubles Mount as CBI Names Him Accused in Mahadev App Scam FIR

Raipur (The Uttam Hindu): Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is facing growing legal issues as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has named him as an accused in the high-profile Mahadev App scam. This new development comes as part of the ongoing investigation into the 6000 crore online betting scandal. The CBI recently raided 60 locations across four states, further intensifying the heat on those involved.
The CBI has included Bhupesh Baghel’s name in the FIR related to the scam, which involves the illegal operations of the Mahadev Book App. According to the FIR, the app's owners allegedly paid significant sums of money as "protection money" to various police officers, administrative officials, and influential political figures to ensure that their illegal betting activities went unchallenged. The funds were reportedly transferred through hawala channels and eventually made their way to senior police officials and powerful politicians.
The agency initially filed the FIR on December 18, 2024, but Baghel, in response, has stated that he is not aware of the details of the CBI's FIR. He added that he would respond appropriately once he has access to the full details of the case.
With these new developments, Baghel's legal troubles appear to be escalating, and the outcome of the investigation could have serious consequences for the former CM.
