New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Farmers have declared their intent to march towards Delhi today, Sunday, with a group of 101 farmers set to walk from Shambhu border under heavy police security. The move comes after failed attempts on Friday, when the police blocked their path with tear gas shells to prevent them from advancing towards the capital. Despite the heavy security measures, farmers continued their protests at the Shambhu border on Saturday in support of their demands.

In a parallel development, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced opposition to BJP leaders visiting Punjab. As Haryana CM Naib Singh Saini and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari are reportedly set to visit Amritsar today, Pandher urged farmers to protest against their presence in the state. Pandher called for the opposition of any BJP official visiting Punjab, stating that farmers would continue to resist the government's stance on key agricultural issues.

Pandher criticized the government's lack of progress in addressing farmers' concerns, highlighting that their 300-day protest had failed to yield results. He reiterated that the government's refusal to engage in dialogue and their insistence on preventing farmers from reaching Delhi had led to growing frustration among the protestors.

While emphasizing the farmers' desire for a peaceful movement, Pandher pointed out the government's reluctance to negotiate or allow farmers to present their demands. He expressed hope that the government would recognize the dire situation faced by farmers across the country and urged the Prime Minister to make a statement on their behalf if his intentions to support MSP (Minimum Support Price) for crops were genuine.

The ongoing protests continue to underscore the deep divide between farmers and the ruling government, as tensions rise ahead of further marches and demonstrations.
