New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In a key administrative decision, former Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor **Shaktikanta Das** has been appointed as the **Principal Secretary-2** to Prime Minister **Narendra Modi**.


Das, a 1980-batch **Indian Administrative Service (IAS)** officer from the Tamil Nadu cadre, previously served as the **25th Governor of the RBI** from **December 2018 to December 2024**. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in handling economic challenges, managing inflation, and ensuring financial stability in India.


Before heading the RBI, Das held significant positions in the government, including **Union Economic Affairs Secretary** and **Union Revenue Secretary**, contributing to key financial policy decisions.


His appointment is expected to bring valuable expertise in economic affairs and governance to the **Prime Minister's Office (PMO)**, potentially shaping major policy initiatives in the current administration.
