New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The results of the Delhi Assembly elections were announced on Saturday, marking a significant shift in the city’s political landscape. After 27 years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on its way to gaining control of Delhi's government. According to the Election Commission, the BJP secured 48 seats, making it the largest party, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came in second with 22 seats. Here’s a look at the results from key constituencies across Delhi.

In the high-profile New Delhi Assembly seat, former Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal lost to BJP's Pravesh Verma by a margin of 4,089 votes. Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit finished in third place. On the Kalkaji Assembly seat, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi won a tight contest, defeating BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by 3,521 votes. Congress candidate Alka Lamba secured third place.

In Jangpura, AAP’s Manish Sisodia narrowly lost by 675 votes to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Congress's Farhad Suri finished third. On the Shakur Basti seat, AAP’s Satyendar Jain lost by a significant margin of 20,998 votes to BJP's Karnail Singh, who garnered 56,869 votes.

In Greater Kailash, AAP’s Saurabh Bhardwaj lost by 3,188 votes to BJP's Shikha. Congress’s Garvit Singvi finished third. On the Patparganj seat, AAP’s Awadh Ojha was defeated by BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi with a margin of 28,072 votes. Congress’s Anil Kumar finished third with 16,549 votes. BJP's Kapil Mishra won the Karawal Nagar seat by a massive margin of 23,355 votes, defeating AAP’s Manoj Tyagi. In the Rohini seat, BJP’s Vijender Gupta triumphed with a margin of 37,816 votes, defeating AAP’s Pradeep Mittal. In the Ballimaran constituency, AAP’s Imran Hussain won with 29,823 votes, while BJP’s Kamal Bagri came second with 27,181 votes. AAP’s Gopal Rai, the current state president, secured victory on the Babarpur seat by a margin of 18,994 votes, with BJP in second and Congress in third.

On the Gandhi Nagar seat, BJP’s Arvinder Singh Lovely defeated AAP's Naveen Chaudhary by 12,748 votes. BJP's Kailash Gehlot won the Bijwasan seat, defeating AAP’s Surender Bhardwaj. Former Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay secured a narrow win in Malviya Nagar, defeating AAP's Somnath Bharti by 2,131 votes. AAP’s Mukesh Ahlawat won the Sultanpur Majra seat by a margin of 17,126 votes, defeating BJP’s Karam Singh Karma. BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa triumphed in the Rajouri Garden seat, defeating AAP’s Dhanwati Chandela by 18,190 votes. In Rajendra Nagar, AAP’s Durgesh Pathak narrowly lost by 1,231 votes to BJP’s Umang Bajaj, who garnered 45,440 votes.

On the Mustafabad seat, BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht won with a margin of 17,578 votes. AAP’s Adil Ahmad Khan came second, while AIMIM’s Tahir Hussain finished third. AAP’s Rakhi Birla lost the Madipur seat by 10,899 votes to BJP’s Kailash Gangwal. Finally, in the Okhla Assembly seat, AAP's incumbent MLA Amanatullah Khan secured a comfortable win with 33,225 votes, while AIMIM’s Shifa ur Rehman finished second. These results reflect a significant shift in Delhi's political power, with BJP making substantial gains across many constituencies.
