CM Rekha Gupta Performs Yamuna Aarti Before Chairing First Cabinet Meeting

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu)- Cleaning the Yamuna river is one of the biggest priorities for the newly formed BJP government in Delhi. On the very first day of her tenure as Chief Minister after taking oath on Thursday, Rekha Gupta and all her cabinet colleagues reached Vasudev Ghat on the banks of Yamuna in Delhi and performed Yamuna Aarti.
The Yamuna Aarti program held just hours after the oath taking ceremony shows how much the issue of Yamuna pollution contributed to BJP's victory in the assembly elections and how committed the government is now towards its cleanliness. After the Yamuna Aarti, the first cabinet meeting of the Delhi government was held. Ministers Pravesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ashish Sood, Kapil Mishra, Ravindra Indraraj and Pankaj Kumar Singh, who took oath as ministers along with Rekha Gupta, attended it. Delhi State BJP President Virendra Sachdeva was also present at the Yamuna Ghat. During this, Yamuna Aarti was performed amidst chanting of mantras. The Chief Minister prayed with folded hands. Many senior BJP leaders and many Lok Sabha MPs from Delhi were also present here.
The Aam Aadmi Party government, which has been in power in Delhi for the last 10 years, had promised to clean the Yamuna river. However, despite the passage of two terms, the Yamuna could not be cleaned in Delhi. The issue of pollution of the Yamuna river was also raised in the Delhi Assembly elections. Now the Bharatiya Janata Party government has kept the Yamuna river on its priority. Even during the elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had talked about making the Yamuna river clean and pure in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that while fulfilling the dream of the Prime Minister, her government will work vocally against corruption in Delhi. Every penny of the public will be accounted for. She said that a strategy has been made to clean the Yamuna in Delhi in the next three years. After the results of the assembly elections, the work of removing silt from the Yamuna river has also started at many places. Just a few days before the formation of the government, the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi also held an important meeting with senior officials in this regard. After this, the work of removing silt and weeds from the Yamuna river has been started at many places in Delhi
